24 hours….

January 31, 2008

Jaysus im knackered. All i did was run around today.

Got everything that needed to be done – done.

Homer was just taken away :(

I got my new iPod off the college people after the most confusing drive of my life! Thanks guys, means a lot – I must be sound or something!!

But anyway it took me ages to get home from Parkwest with the iPod so the guys buying the car were there waiting for me!! Homer was filthy – I offered to clean it but they took it anyhow!!

All i have to do now is have a few beers and hugs tonight…

Im actually just gonna pack tomorrow!

Fair play to Tony Healy (Dad) for sorting me out with a load of electronics and foreign currency – thanks dad!

Anyway ill try leave one before we fly tomorrow. Got to leave the house round 3ish.

Gonna miss everyone :P

So first day off work went swimmingly. Got up and finished off boxing up my room and sorting out all my clothes. Then went and did a load of money matters with the bank!

Went to the chemist and he was SOUND. Not only did he give me the malaria tablets at reduced medical card price, he gave me my other drugs for free and he upped the malaria dosage (which im pretty sure you need a doctor to do)! He was a legend. Got everything for €180!!

Then Me and Paul went in to town for his rucksack, he got a cool one and we got other bits and pieces and a small amount of toiletry shit in Boots. Then I came home and lodged my money into my Australian account!

Very productive so far…im just after buying my insurance and doing a trial pack…SO I’M DONE!!

Bought some E45 cream!! “E45 use for semi-rape”

This time 2 days will be on our way!

3 days…

Few updates…

1) I sold my car! SCORE! thats a weight off the shoulders – gonna miss Homer though – he served me well.

2)Rang trailfinders to see how we change our flights from Singapore to Sydney – we want to put them back 3 weeks. She told me that she could do it there and then but it would cost 30 euro plus whatever admin cost Quantas wanna charge us (~20 squid). She recommended that when we get to London or Bangkok just go to the Quantas desk and they’ll do it there and we won’t have to pay the trailfinders fee. So basically the chick on the phone made her company lose out on 120 quid coz she’s sound!!

3) Today is my last day in work! Delighted and sad at the same time….I’ll miss these guys – they are a whole lot of fun!

4)My good buddy Wally got my job when I leave – Since I referred and recommended him I get a €250 finders fee! SWEET!

5)Have to transfer money, get malaria tablets, sort out my room and get a new iPod now!! oh and insurance…

Thats it for today – think this time next week we’ll be on route to Laos to relax to have a whole lotta fun!

Laos tubing

Tubing in Laos

4 days……..OH MY GOD

January 28, 2008

I cant believe its four days away….

ITS MENTAL!!!

So im pretty hungover here in work! Went out on Friday to the Baggot Inn with the boys – racked up a 232 yoyo bill. Then went to my going away party on Saturday in the lads house – it was amazing. Loads of people, loads of fun, loads of mentalness!! And of course there were some beautiful shirts on show….

Shirts!

Last night went out for the last sunday quiz and turned out we got hammered and went to shags for the last time! Great laugh – what was even a better laugh was coming in on the train this morning. SOBER!!

Gonna book my travel insurance today, and maybe do something about malaria tablets. Oh and i might try figure out how to get 3K into my australian bank account…

Man I wish I was in bed………….

8 days…tick tock

January 24, 2008

So I’ve been told its sad that I’ve started this blog before I actually head away, I dont’t think that. I think its good to document everything! Including the build up!

The 2 girls are finished work for good tomorrow so they’re heading out to party tomorrow night. I just had my leaving lunch there with work….Indian – YUMMY. Heading out to the schoolhouse with work tonight for a few drinks. Tomorrow night Big Baz booked a table in The Baggot Inn so thats gonna be messy! Then its our worst dressed party on Saturday.

Updates on the organisation side of things – me and Paul eventually found insurance -200 squids which is a bit of a bargain! And Paul went down for the malaria tablets yesterday…308 euro!!! But then figured out the drug payments scheme and we got it down to 180. Which is still expensive but at least these pills don’t come with the gay side effects the cheap ones have!

Car selling is harder than first thought. Anyone want to buy Homer off me?

Homer!

9 days…

January 23, 2008

Firstly – leave a comment.

Finally got my passport back! First VISA woohooo!

Got all finances sorted today, plus a generous donation to the party fund from the ould pair – so im laughing!! But was on to tax office today to get my tax back coz im leaving the country and they were like – you haven’t worked since last February….eh NO. Ive been in Pfizer for 8 months…what happened to all the tax I was paying? They dont know. So I got on to the oul payroll, they were ademant they posted my P45 off. So its lost in the post somewhere….since May. SOUND. Apparantely I have to go under a tax review now! SOUND. So I went mental at payroll and told them to sort it out – its their responsibility.

Can’t believe its into single figures now.

Me and Paul tried to find cheap flights to Hanoi from Luang Prabang – it ain’t gonna happen. 50 minute flight or 29 hour bus journey full of chickencs?? Gonna have to shell out the $140 for it.

Malaria tablets and travel insurance…

BRING ON PHI PHI!

10 days…

January 22, 2008

Somebody remind me that I gotta get travel insurance…..

…and malaria pills…

…and a good book!

Only 5 days left in work EVER.

11 days….

January 21, 2008

Happy Monday!  A groggy one! What a mental weekend.

So I got my iPod stolen on Friday in Bruxelles – SHIT BUZZ.  Gotta shell out for a new one now!!

Just posted away my Australian bank account information. Sorted!

Hope this day flies by!

I misjudged the days. Its actually 15 days today!

Em so we decided we’re gonna skip Chand Mai. So we’re gonna go directly from Bangkok to Laos. Thing is though its 125 euro minimum to fly direct to VietViane in Laos so I went looking for a cheaper way.

Turns out we can fly internally (slightly cheap) within Thailand to a place called Udonthani and then get a bus to the Freedom Bridge into Laos.  The flight costs 9 euro (399 baht) and the bus is 1.80 euro (80 baht) ….Thats a grand total of €10.80. SUPER!!

From Vietiane the plan is to bus it up to Vang Viang and go tubing, then up to Luang Prabang for some relaxation. Plenty of beers en route….and some slightly cool waterfalls…as below:

Waterfall

I think I might just make this my blog – the others don’t care!

15 days and counting…

January 16, 2008

We got confirmation of our booking for the Coral Bungalows on Koh Phangan…nice one…it worked out cheaper tan first thought too! 14 euro a night…

We got advice off a few people which basically told us just to walk into a place in Bangkok when we get there as opposed to booking in advance. So we’ll probably just head straight to D&D’s (As advised) and stay there for a night or 2 while we get our bearings and figure out what we’ll do til wehave to be in Vietnam on the 10th.

Still haven’t got the passport back….. hmmm
